Description:

This section introduces common medical terms associated with the skeletal system. Medical terms associated with bone, cartilage, ligaments, joints, limbs, skull, vertebral column and thorax are introduced. It also includes animations showing the action of intervertebral discs and nutrition of bone.

Dictionary Exercise

Components of medical words and their meanings can be repeatedly flashed on to the screen to aid learning.

Word Exercise

Components learnt in the dictionary exercises can be dragged and dropped to form medical words associated with their meanings.

Spelling Exercise

You type in medical words that fit a definition and then check your score or make corrections

Anatomy Exercise

Click on components of the skeletal system then match associated combining forms.

Flash Cards

All the components of words used in this section are flashed onto the screen for you to guess their meaning. Included are prefixes, combining forms of word roots and suffixes.

Dictation Exercise

You spell words from dictation. Each word is pronounced when you press a button, the word is entered by typing into a box and checking your score.

Self-Assessment Exercise

Interactive exercises that check knowledge of: anatomy, meanings of prefixes, combining forms and suffixes, ability to spell medical terms from their meanings and from dictation.

Word Check A short, simple list of medical terms, common diseases, abbreviations and procedures that might be used in typical medical practice records. This last section is used for reference only and is non-interactive.
